THE VERY FIRST PROVIDENCE ARTIST COLLECTION
It has been quite while now since we dreamt about launching some goods to fulfill the other half of Providence Moments & Goods. So there was a bit of pressure for everyone who teamed up to make it happen. It has to be perfect! Durable, Rare & Unexpected.
Why « Croisière »? Historically, the « croisière » collection is an « in between » collection made up by luxury brands to develop summer pieces, more confortable and easy to wear, for basically rich people who go spend their winter holidays in the sun. So we thought is defined well this very summer feeling collection we are launching, right in the middle of winter !
Why « Glasser » ? Jason & Sophie Glasser are both artists we’ve always admired and trusted. We’ve already worked a few times together: Jason would do a yearly exhibition at our place in Guethary, and the result has been spontaneous pieces, and good times in the garden painting! Between painting, singing and making music videos, the visual artist presents himself as a follower of what is immediate and instantaneous, pop, fun and above all positive. He also collaborated with prestigious clothing brands like APC and Vanessa Seward. Sophie Glasser is a pluridisciplinary artist. She has contributed to iconic images for life style, luxury brands, and magazines internationally. She is the author of Le Gros Manuel, an illustrated book of crafts, edited by Supereditions. So we know the by asking us to contribute on our first collection, we were in good hands. Because you never change a winning team.
The inspiration for the designs came naturally: people surfing in the sun, and flying birds, inspired by a memory Jason had from their son Joseph and I surfing in Cenitz; happy and sunny colors, like the « Rouge Fiesta » from the all over pieces, carefully chosen by Sophie; the massive Providence P, like a football team, printed or embroidered on different pieces.
To keep up with the high quality and exclusivity we wanted for those pieces, as well as the durable aspect of the whole process, we’ve been helped by a design office we’ve known for a long time : Tina and Niklas, from Twolives, who supported us on the loooooong way! The fabrics we chosen in Portugal, the cuts and fits were viewed, reviewed, tried, by ourselves, and believe us, they are GOOD. We’ve decided to edit those pieces in very limited quantities, and do a pre-ordering system.
